Are you still searching for that perfect summer camp experience for your 5-12 year-old? If your son or daughter likes to swing a bat, look no further than D-BAT, a locally owned and operated baseball and softball training facility. The building at 6416 W. Hood Place in Kennewick offers 20,000 square feet of hitting lanes, pitching tunnels and gym area for athletic training and a golf simulator. Questions about the operations can be answered by calling 509.940.3228. D-BAT’s Facebook page notes that there are 20 instructors. Ratings, with 51 reviews, give this business five stars. Owned and operated by the Benson family of the Tri-Cities, the lead softball instructor is Emily Benson. Emily was a notable softball player (state championships with the Kamiakin Braves and All American at Western Washington University). The Benson’s eldest daughter brings her enjoyment of working with young players to the facility. Several baseball instructors, including Caden Kaelber and Brayden Henry work at D-BAT. The many instructors bring personal success and experience to the learning program. Your kids will be in good hands at this year’s summer camp at D-BAT!
The Bensons have created a flexible schedule for this summer’s camp(s). Participants can sign up for a day or two at a time, enjoy a week-long experience, or take advantage of all 10 weeks of camp. The cost is $55.00 for a day or $225.00 per week. D-BAT’s flyer notes that membership discounts do apply. There will be a kick-off camp June 13th and June 14th, followed by All-Aspects Summer Camp (5-days-week) commencing June 17th. Starting time each day is at 9:00 a.m. and camp ends at 12:00 p.m. As the name of the camp denotes, the instructors will help your child develop skills in hitting, running bases, pitching, fielding, and throwing. Additionally, every day will include engaging games and active competitions.
Summer camp is popular, so registering should take place as soon as possible. Parents can register their child on-line at dbatcolumbiabasin.com. A link to “Register for Camp” at the top of the site. Then, scroll through all the lessons now available until June activities appear. This is where the camp registration can be selected. Again, this is a popular camp, and the instructors keep the groups small so they can offer exceptional instruction, so signing up early will ensure your child is not left out of this opportunity to improve his/her skills in softball or baseball, while learning about all around athleticism and training.
The Tri-Cities is fortunate to have this facility for training and excited that the Benson family has designed flexible summer camps for five to twelve-year-old kids to enjoy. All a participant needs to bring to camp is non-cleat tennis shoes, a bat, a helmet, a glove, a water bottle, and a great attitude. The fun will be provided!
